If you are looking for something to do to help pass time at Athens International Airport, then what better way while away the hours than by reading a good book? The available bookstores are:

Papasotiriou Books
This store has a limited number of titles. It is most oriented in international press, local press and magazines. It is located at different points in the arrival and departure terminals.

Alternatively, if you are more interested in press and magasines, then you might visit one of the numerous Presspoint Papasotiriou stores.

The Bookstore is more specialized in Greek literature books. At Ianos I'm always impressed by the quality of service; all employees are highly qualified and know exactly how to find the right book for you. The bookstore at Stadiou Street in Athens has also a coffee shop that hosts cultural events.

Athens Free WiFi Hotspots

There are many free WiFi hot-spots in Athens. Most of these are located in coffee shops or bars. The municipality of Athens also provides free access to the internet in three main areas in Athens. These are:

Greek Elections and Street Art

Today are election days in Athens, Greece. Greek street Artist "Bleeps"  http://www.bleeps.gr/ once expressed his opinion with this stencil that stood at "Iera Odos" street, Athens. "Vote for Nobody" is the slogan held by the ancient Greek statue.

Athens International Airport

Access


Metro metro - You can access the airport via Metro line 3 - Egalio/Airport (blue line). Currently, journeys are scheduled every 30 minutes to/from the airport with the following timetable. The Metro is the best way to reach the center of Athens area including Syntagma and Monastiraki.

Suburban Rail - "Proastiakos"

Airport -> Ano Liosia, Magoula, Kiato
Kiato, Magoula, Ano Liosia -> Airport
Currently the section rail Piraeus-Ano Liosia is closed.

First train from Airport to Ano Liosia is at 05.26 with the following frequency -- xx:11 -- xx:26 -- xx:44
Last train form Airport to Ano Liosia is at 20:26.


The Metro & Suburban Rail train station at the airport is accessed from the departure terminal (level 1) outside the gate 2. There you can buy tickets before accessing the railway platforms. Do not forget to validate your ticket before boarding. Ticket fares to/from the airport are detailed in the following link.

Airport EXPRESS Bus Lines
The bus stop is outside gate 5 at the arrival terminal (level 0), before boarding you need to get a ticket from the kiosk at the bus stop. The following line buses are available on 24 hours basis:

The Shopping Center and the Duty Free Shops at Athens International Airport has a big number of stores for your last minute shopping before travel. Among the luxury and perfume stores, there is a selection of stores that specialize in Greek products, these are:

  • Hellenic Gourmet Store
    This store has a big choice of Greek food products. There you will find olive oil, olives, honey, Greek spirits like ouzo, Metaxa, wine. You can check the full range of products at their official web site.

  • Mastiha Shop
    Mastiha (mastic gum) is a natural product produced in the island of Xios. It can be used as a natural chewing gum. Also, it is used for cooking and deserts.

  • Korres Natural Products
    Korres is now a well known Greek brand that is sold worldwide. You will find there a big selection of natural cosmetic and bath products.

Luggage Storage


Care4bag is a luggage storage facility at the airport. It is located at the arrival level in the free access area near the Exit Door 1. It will also wrap luggage, boxes and sporting goods according to airline requirements.
